Apple releases iOS 16.5 beta 1 to developers, here’s what’s new

Apple has just released the first beta version of iOS 16.5 to developers, and with it come several new features and improvements. While the update is still in the testing phase, it gives us a glimpse into what we can expect from the next major iOS update. Here’s what we know so far:
- Improved Face ID The first major improvement in iOS 16.5 is to Face ID, Apple’s facial recognition technology. The company claims that the update will make Face ID work faster and more accurately, even when the user is wearing a mask. With the ongoing pandemic, this update is especially important, as it will make it easier for users to unlock their devices while wearing a mask.
- New Lock Screen Widgets iOS 16.5 also introduces new lock screen widgets, which allow users to access important information without unlocking their devices. These widgets can display information like the weather, upcoming events, or the user’s fitness stats. This feature is similar to the widgets that were introduced in iOS 14, but with the added convenience of being accessible from the lock screen.
- Redesigned Control Center Another new feature in iOS 16.5 is a redesigned Control Center. The new design makes it easier to access frequently used controls, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Airplane Mode. The new Control Center also includes more customization options, allowing users to add or remove controls as they see fit.
- Improved Siri Apple has also made improvements to Siri in iOS 16.5. The virtual assistant now has a more natural-sounding voice and can understand more complex requests. Additionally, Siri can now translate more languages, making it easier for users to communicate with people who speak different languages.

- Enhanced Privacy Features Finally, iOS 16.5 introduces several new privacy features. One of the most significant is App Tracking Transparency, which requires apps to ask for user permission before tracking their activity across other apps and websites. This feature is designed to give users more control over their data and prevent apps from collecting information without their knowledge.
Overall, iOS 16.5 appears to be a significant update with many new features and improvements. While it is currently only available to developers, it is expected to be released to the general public in the coming months. As always, Apple’s commitment to user privacy and security remains a top priority, and these new features are designed to enhance the user experience while keeping personal information safe and secure.
