Samuel Inkoom Speaks on Hearts of Oak’s goal drought

Accra Hearts of Oak defender Samuel Inkoom believes his colleagues always train on how to score, but they have not met the fans’ expectations this season.

The Oak Tree have come under a lot of criticism from the football faithful for their inability to score goals, especially on the part of the strikers.

Coach David Ocloo, who was the deputy coach at the time his side defeated Accra Lions 1-0, bemoaned the team’s lack of goals, specifically citing goalscoring as the club’s major problem. Speaking after the game with StarTimes, the coach said, “I will say we create a lot of chances, but we’d rather not score.”

Samuel Inkoom said in an interview with StarTimes, “I will not talk too much about this, but to be honest, we have been working on goal scoring in training at Pobiman. The coaches are doing everything. It happens in football. It doesn’t mean we don’t have good strikers. It doesn’t mean the players aren’t good. But I believe that it will come.”

Hearts of Oak’s top goal scorers for this season are tied with four goals each for defender Caleb Amankwah and midfielder Benjamin Yorke.
